Jala es famosa por cultivar el maíz cacahuazintle más grande del mundo. El Festival del Maíz se celebra anualmente (generalmente en julio-agosto) en la plaza central y sus alrededores, con exposición de mazorcas gigantes, gastronomía local, música, danza y artesanías.
