Senderos bien marcados atraviesan bosques de pino y encino a más de 2,000 metros de altitud, con flora y fauna endémica de la Sierra Norte de Oaxaca. Existen rutas de diferentes niveles de dificultad. Se recomienda llevar ropa abrigadora, agua y snacks; la temperatura en el bosque es considerablemente más fresca que en la ciudad.
