El bosque de pino-encino del Tzirate alberga diversas aves canoras, colibríes, búhos y en temporada (octubre a marzo) mariposas monarca de paso. Las primeras horas de la mañana son las más propicias. Se recomienda binoculares y guía de campo de aves de Michoacán para una experiencia más rica.
