About the event

Carmina Burana comes to Cirque Royal - Koninklijk Circus in Brussels. Featuring Carmina Burana - Szeged Contemporary Dance Company. A night of live hip-hop/rap. CARMINA BURANA, be ready to feel it! With over 500 performances worldwide, this epic production is greeted with long standing ovations at every performance, leaving audiences amazed and transformed. Reviews are unanimous; "Powerful and epic", 'a real breath of fresh air, very musical, well-paced, totally magical and deeply ritualistic', '... certainly the most powerful and moving production of Carmina Burana currently on view', 'ten-minute standing ovation by the audience at the Maison de la Danse in Lyon'... This production of CARMINA BURANA, by the prestigious SCDC - Szeged Contemporary Dance Company, plunges us into the heart of a mythical tale. We enter the intense life of an imaginary barbarian community, struggling for survival in the rubble of a fallen civilization. Faced with an unpredictable destiny, these beings experience love, joy, sadness and death, confronting a capricious Fortune that sometimes lifts them up, sometimes destroys them. In this spellbinding ballet, a young woman, destined for a short, hard existence, tastes unexpected happiness. Love, as fleeting as it is intense, lights up her life, making her forget the harshness of her destiny and giving her a glimpse of a different, better reality. But Fortune's wheel turns without mercy, and this happiness, however beautiful, can be swept away in an instant... CARMINA BURANA is a meditation on humanity itself, on our hopes, our fears, our struggles, and the uncertainties that shape our lives. Through every choreographic gesture, every masterful note by Carl Orff, this production explores the human condition with rare depth and intensity. Directed by renowned choreographer Tamás Juronics, this adaptation of Carl Orff's monumental masterpiece is a celebration of ritual, hardship and the tragic beauty of life. The award-winning Szeged Contemporary Dance Company - SCDC, renowned for its artistic excellence, transcends the boundaries of time and space, delivering a performance of unparalleled precision and power. The drumbeats resonate in the chest, the songs burst into the air like an ancient, powerful call, while the dancers embody with rare intensity the eternal struggle between desire, destiny and fate. This CARMINA BURANA transcends mere entertainment to offer a moment of raw beauty, where every moment vibrates with tension and emotion. Audiences can't help but be swept away, fascinated by the narrative force, overwhelmed by the sensuality of bodies in motion. This show will leave an indelible mark on them, leaving an indelible trace of thrills and aesthetic pleasure. CARMINA BURANA by the SCDC is a unique experience, a total immersion in dramatic art, both sensual and visceral, that will remain engraved in everyone's heart.
