Her unique blend of dance- pop, delivered with hypnotic deadpan vocals, has earned her a global fan base. After viral successes with tracks like &quot;Rinse &amp; Repeat&quot; and &quot;Fake ID,&quot; Kah-Lo took a moment to reassess her artistic direction. While her signature party-ready energy remained, she sought to delve deeper into her emotions on songs from her major-label debut album, &lsquo;pain/ pleasure.&rsquo;</p><p style="text-align: center;">Driven by a desire to challenge stereotypes and assert her identity, she turned to Jeff Tweedy&#39;s &lsquo;How To Write One Song&rsquo; to help translate her emotions into music. The 14 tracks on &lsquo;pain/pleasure&#39; reflect her personal and professional challenges, offering a spectrum of emotions from longing in &quot;Runway&quot; to defiant self-assurance in &quot;Unbothered.&quot; On its lead single, &ldquo;fund$,&quot; Kah-Lo raps about the frustrations of having money owed to her in the music industry. The album embodies the dichotomy of &quot;pain and pleasure.&quot;</p><p style="text-align: center;">Kah-Lo initially gained recognition with her feature on Riton&rsquo;s &quot;Rinse &amp; Repeat&quot; in 2016, which led to a Grammy nomination. Her journey began in Lagos, where she grew up, and she was determined to pursue a career in music. Inspired by a diverse range of artists, her stage name, Kah-Lo, pays homage to the renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, known for her autobiographical style.
