De Tanya Huntington La Alacena es un monologo en que se aborda la vida y obra de la pintora jalisciense María Izquierdo, donde se revela la fascinante biografía de la artista contada por ella misma desde el limbo. Es además un testamento a la resiliencia creativa durante una época de transición postrevolucionaria en que, según izquierdo, era “un delito ser mujer y tener talento”. La Alacena: documental miniatura de María Izquierdo rinde homenaje a la resiliencia de una mujer con talento ante los retos intimidantes que debe confrontar, tales como la prohibición, la intolerancia o la falta de reconocimiento. A pesar de ser casada a los quince años con un militar, corrida de la academia por sus compañeros, mal comprendida como pintora y olvidada durante años por la posteridad, María Izquierdo nunca se da por vencida y, sobre todo, nunca pierde su espíritu lúdico y sentido de humor –incluso desde el limbo.
