Love Train (DJ Set) is an intimate daytime party hosted by the legendary Brutus Gold. Dust off your sequins and stretch those hamstrings: disco icon Brutus Gold is being coaxed out of his sun-drenched Italian retirement villa for one triumphant return to Newcastle. On May 16th, the self-proclaimed Don of Disco and Godfather Of The Groove will land in Newcastle upon Tyne to bring glitter, groove and a generous helping of guilty pleasures to The Cluny for a very special Daytime Disco. Yes, daytime. Because legends know bedtime is sacred. After years of perfecting his Negroni recipe somewhere along the Amalfi Coast (or so his people insist), Brutus Gold has agreed to swap olive groves for Geordie grooves. The result? An afternoon packed with wall-to-wall disco, funk, soul, floor-fillers and those shameless anthems you pretend not to love (but absolutely do). Expect classic feel-good hits from the golden era of disco, uplifting grooves and a lively dancefloor atmosphere delivered in an intimate setting. Think Donna Summer, Sister Sledge, Chic, Rose Royce, The O'Jays, the records that defined the 70s, played by someone who's built a career around them. Brutus Gold and the Love Train have been filling dancefloors in Newcastle since 1989. From the legendary Mondays at Julies & Tuesday Nights at Buzz bar way back in the 90's to festival stages across Europe, this is one of the longest-running disco shows in the country. The DJ set format strips things back from the full production — no elaborate stage show, just Brutus on the decks with performers alongside, the music front and centre, and a room full of people who came to dance.
