Otaku De Alex Herrera Renato es un joven de 23 años que detesta su trabajo y su vida, sin embargo encuentra refugio en la fantasía del vibrante universo de la animación japonesa. Todo cambia cuando su propia realidad lo convoca a una batalla épica: su madre, su única compañera otaku, ha sido atacada por el Enemigo Final: El cáncer. Renato debe dejar de ser un "personaje secundario" y tomar valor para enfrentarse a la burocracia institucional, a las heridas familiares y a sí mismo. Otaku es una obra acerca de la resiliencia y el duelo ante la muerte de un ser cercano; aquí el manga/anime personifica los miedos y obstáculos a los que nos enfrentamos en un proceso de la pérdida de aquellos a quienes amamos.
