One of the UK’s breakout alt-R&B stars of the 2020s heads to Vivid Sydney, set to transfix Oxford Art Factory with her soulful sounds. Raised in Birmingham, RUBII’s music is deeply felt, and delivered in an arresting combination of soft-spoken, bunchy bars with syrupy vocals and chill, precise production. Conversational and introspective, RUBII’s breakthrough came in 2023 with EP Olive Green, led by ‘Jammin’, a heartfelt ode to finding neo-soul and jazz music as a kid, set to a skittering beat. Since then, RUBII’s gone from strength-to-strength – including a buzzy Glastonbury debut, a global streaming hit with ‘Jealousy’, plus sold-out shows across the UK, Europe and US.
