La Sierra de Vallejo alberga una fauna excepcional: loros, tucanes pico-canoa, jaguares, pumas, coatis y gran diversidad de reptiles. Los recorridos al amanecer por senderos de la sierra son los más productivos para el avistamiento. Se recomienda contratar guías locales conocedores de la zona para aumentar la probabilidad de avistamiento y garantizar la seguridad.
