If you're new to the park and unfamiliar with who exactly the Hopewell people were, then the park's introductory film, Mysteries of the Ancient Architects, is for you. This award-winning film produced by Camera One delves into the accomplishments of these Native Americans and explores the possibilities of why they created such monumental earthworks throughout the Ohio Valley. While showcasing the monumental accomplishments achieved by Native Americans, the film also describes what life was like for people living in the area over two thousand years ago. Even though the people of the Hopewell era didn't live in villages or towns, they possessed an advanced understanding of geometry and astronomy which likely allowed them to construct enormous earthworks with lunar and solar alignments. The film is 19 minutes long and is suitable for all age levels. This film is subtitled for ease of accessibility. When you enter the visitor center, ask a ranger about the next showing of the film.
